About Ilfracombe
Ilfracombe is a beautiful coastal resort with grand Villas and imposing Terraces, and it still retains much of its Victorian charm and character. It sits between the rugged scenery of Exmoor National Park to the east and the Golden Coast with its surfing beaches to the west. This makes it an ideal holiday destination as it caters for all tastes from activity and walking holidays to relaxing breaks in beautiful surroundings.
The town dates back to the Iron Age, but became a popular holiday resort in the Victorian era. When the branch line from Barnstaple opened in 1874 and it became more accessible, visitors flocked there from far and wide and it prospered as a resort.

Today, it still welcomes thousands of visitors every year, and is home to the Landmark Theatre, St Nicholas' Chapel on Lantern Hill and it has a Museum and Aquarium as well as the Award Winning Tunnels Beaches.
There are many other beaches to explore, and many paths to walk, including the Coastal Path. Regular boat trips to Lundy and Pleasure Cruises along the coast in both directions are operated from the Harbour, as well as fishing trips.
The High Street caters for all tastes and contains many long established retailers as well as Cafes, Restaurants and Pubs. There are high quality Hotels and Guest Houses throughout the town, many with spectacular sea views as well as an increasing amount of self-catering flats and houses to choose from.
